Conference in Lisbon: Final Program
We are glad to publish the final version of the program of the International conference “CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND COMPANY PERFORMANCE: EXPLORING THE CHALLENGING ISSUES” to take place at ISEG, Lisbon (Portugal) on October 26, 2017.
The conference program contains key-note speeches:
Prof. Dr. Niels Hermes, Chair of the Department of Economics, Econometrics and Finance, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Groningen, the Netherlands. At the conference, the presentation of Prof. Hermes will be titled: “Board Dynamics and Firm Performance: The Missing Link in Corporate Governance Research”.
Prof. Dr. Maclyn Clouse, Reiman School of Finance, University of Denver, USA. In his key-note speech Prof. Clouse will tell about secretly developed corporate governance principles that were introduced by the CEOs of leading corporations in USA, he will also pay attention to their weak sides and possible ways of improvement.
The plenary session will also contain three key-presentations.
One of the presentations will be devoted to a deep empirical research on corporate tax avoidance and performance followed by mergers & acquisitions performed by the researchers from the School of Economics and Management (ISEG), University of Lisbon, ADVANCE/CSG (Portugal). The second presentation in the plenary part will be delivered by Prof. Eric Pichet, representing KEDGE Business School in France. Prof. Pichet has a long experience of serving on the boards of listed companies and will outline new frontiers for the corporate boards: strategy and risk issues based on his research and experience from the boardrooms. The third presentation will be delivered by Anabela Miranda Rodrigues who is currently a Professor at the University of Coimbra in Portugal. Prof. Miranda Rodrigues is a Former Minister of Internal Affairs of Portugal and will share her vision of effective compliance programs and criminal compliance.
In the afternoon, after the lunch the conference will continue its work in three parallel sessions:
- CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND FIRM PERFORMANCE
- REPORTING, EARNINGS MANAGEMENT AND CORPORATE CONTROL
- GOVERNANCE, RISK MANAGEMENT AND CORPORATE BOARD ISSUES
The conference will end up with the gala-dinner.
